Tree replanting program:

Deforestation is a critical problem that affects all of us, whether we live in a city or we rely on the forests for our livelihoods. Currently, almost half of the world?s industrial logging goes into making paper and each of us uses 65 cubic feet of wood every year - equivalent to six 12-14” diameter trees - in paper and paper products. By replanting the trees that we use, we take responsibility for our paper use and do our part to counteract the devastating consequences of deforestation.

BAM has established a partnership with The Sumba Foundation, replanting teak and mahogany trees to offset all of our paper use. We have made a commitment to fund the planting of 10 trees per month on behalf of each of our advertisers. This will offset our paper use by more than 100%, as well as benefit the local people of Sumba.

GreenCard Program:

Recycled paper saves our valuable natural resources, saves energy, saves our trees, creates fewer toxic by-products and helps our over-crowded landfills.

Recycled paper is available in Indonesia, but it is still very expensive in comparison to non-recycled paper. We know the suppliers and we know the costs. As an option, we encourage our advertisers to print on recycled paper and pass our wholesale, recycled paper cost on to all advertisers who choose to participate in the GreenCard Program. All participating campaigns bear our GreenCard seal, letting the consumer know the advertiser has chosen to pay a premium to print on recycled paper.
